HBF Group is a privately held company HQed in New York City with a family of companies based on egg production, including direct shell egg production and sales working with a network of independent farmers, further processed production and sales, company-owned farms production, and shell egg grading operations. The company is split between entities located in federal Opportunity Zones and entities located outside of federal Opportunity Zones and requires close coordination of transactions to ensure integrity of Opportunity Zone activities. The Company operates within NetSuite for financial reporting. The company has a small team of long-standing staff, but is undergoing a significant evolution in complexity as well as growth expansion over the coming three years.
Experience: 10+ years in-house (corporate, not consultant) in accounting and finance
Report to: Shell Egg CFO/COO to start; Group CFO once hired
Immediate Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting transactions across multiple, inter-related entities under complex organizational structure within and outside federal Opportunity Zones, with 20 active corporate operating entities and 6 levels of elimination entities at present, with particular focus on consolidation requirements for monthly reporting and elimination of inter-company sales and working capital accounts
- Direct responsibility for financial bookings into 3 umbrella holding companies (HBF TN QOF I, HBF TN QOF II, HBF Holdings)
- Direct responsibility for financial bookings into 3 consolidation entities (HBF TN HoldCo, HBF Development, HBF Shell Egg)
- Direct oversight and confirmation of monthly eliminating entries and guidance on accounting entries to support identification and aggregation of inter-company transactions (3 levels: HBF Group level, HBF TN HoldCo level, HBF Development level)
- Coordinate closely with Finance teams at Shell egg entities (remote staff) and at further processed entities (located in TN) on all interactions, including direct transactions, JEs, and cash movements
- Shell Egg entities cover 4 separate companies with many regular and recurring interactions
- Further Processed entities cover 2 separate companies with many regular and recuring interactions
- Shell Egg and Further Processed entities’ interaction with each other
- Support integration of new Finance teams (still to be hired) covering company-owned farms operations and grading operations and provide guidance and support on all anticipated inter-company interactions to support consolidation and elimination
- Manage recordings of inter-company cash transfers through correct use of Investment asset and equity accounts, Equity Contributions / Distributions, or Due to/from inter-company asset and liability accounts
- Provide guidance and calculations for shared services cost allocations (payroll, guaranteed payments and personal guaranty fees, debt service, advisory and legal services, etc), with reference to Opportunity Zone integrity requirements
- Support Chart of Account management and definition as new companies are added into portfolio
- Manage interest calculations and payments for various inter-company and shareholder liabilities
- Generate Journal Entries for monthly close and consolidation process
- Support annual accounting audit
